Tresor und Keshet International gründen Fiction-Produktionsabteilung

On October 1, Tresor TV and Keshet International announced the launch of 'Keshet Tresor Fiction'. Under the leadership of Christina Christ, the two companies plan to enter the market for the production of fictional series and films under this label.

Tresor TV Produktions GmbH is entering the German fiction market with a team led by Christina Christ. The first project, developed in co-production with Constantin Television, is Keshet International’s 'THE BAKER AND THE BEAUTY'.

Munich – TRESOR TV Produktions GmbH produces high-quality programming for the German-speaking television market. The company focuses on variety shows, reality shows, and factual entertainment. Starting in October, a new division in the area of films and series will be added: KESHET TRESOR FICTION.

Following the acquisition by Keshet International in 2017, this is TRESOR TV’s next strategic step to expand into the fiction sector alongside non-scripted programming. With full access to the extensive Keshet International fiction catalog, featuring titles such as PRISONERS OF WAR, THE A WORD, and WHEN HEROES FLY, KESHET TRESOR FICTION will focus on the development and production of high-quality films and series for the national and international moving image market. The office in downtown Munich officially opens on Monday, October 1. Christina Christ will lead the team in her new role as Director of Fiction Programs, reporting to Tresor TV Managing Director Axel Kühn. Christ previously spent seven years at Bavaria Fiction, where she most recently served as a producer responsible for both the development and production of a wide range of prime-time films for public and private broadcasters, as well as feature film productions in collaboration with partners such as 20th Century Fox.
She will be supported by Tina Hechinger, who will serve as a producer. Hechinger brings ten years of experience in development and production at various production companies (including Bavaria Filmproduktion, Bavaria Fiction, and Uschi Reich Filmproduktion). Additionally, Konstantin Kühnle from Rat Pack Filmproduktion will join the team as a dramaturg. Prof. Dr. Eva Stadler (Stuttgart Media University, executive producer of 4 BLOCKS, ADD A FRIEND) will support the team as a freelance consultant.

The first project has already been finalized. KESHET TRESOR FICTION will adapt the AI series THE BAKER AND THE BEAUTY for the German market in a co-production with Constantin Film. Created by Assi Azar and produced for the Israeli broadcaster Keshet 12, THE BAKER AND THE BEAUTY tells a love story between a humble baker and an international superstar. Each of the ten episodes broke all records in Israeli fiction, and both seasons were quickly licensed worldwide by Amazon. An adaptation of the series is currently being produced in Russia by Art Pictures Studios Russia for the broadcaster CTC.

TRESOR TV Managing Director Axel Kühn: 'KESHET INTERNATIONAL' has arguably the largest and strongest fiction catalog in the industry, so it was always clear to us that we wanted to gain a foothold in this sector of the German market together. We are delighted to have secured a team led by Christina Christ that not only shares our philosophy but can also draw on a wealth of experience and connections. We are proud to launch KESHET TRESOR FICTION with these employees and to develop and co-produce THE BAKER AND THE BEAUTY for German audiences together with Constantin Film."
Sammy Nourmand, KESHET INTERNATIONAL’s Managing Director for the UK and Western Europe: “Having initiated our partnership, I am particularly pleased that TRESOR has made the most of being part of the KI Group with this market launch. Germany is a significant market with great potential for a company like KI, and I am confident that Axel and his new team at KESHET TRESOR FICTION will soon be developing and producing high-quality content with global appeal.”

Recent high-profile commissions for Tresor TV include KI’s hit dance format MASTERS OF DANCE, commissioned by ProSieben, as well as formats such as CURVY SUPERMODEL (RTL2), A2 ABENTEUER AUTOBAHN (DMAX), KOCH DIE BOX (KABEL EINS), and, last but not least, a winter version of EWIGE HELDEN (VOX), which was filmed near the Arctic Circle.
Earlier this year, KESHET INTERNATIONAL acquired a majority stake in Greenbird Media, an incubator and investment hub for production companies, and launched a content fund with a total volume of $55 million—two strategically focused partnerships designed to generate new pipelines of high-quality content and global appeal for the leading global content producer and distributor. This month, KI will unveil its most diverse MIPCOM lineup to date, which, in addition to entertainment formats such as SHOWDOWN AVIV/EYAL and gripping dramas like STOCKHOLM and AUTONOMIES, also includes a range of new English-language factual projects from British independent firms that are part of Greenbird Media.
